Frequently Asked Questions
Give yourself plenty of time to find the office, park and get situated. The first appointment is mostly an assessment appointment. We'll go over the consent form, your reasons for seeking therapy, your goals for therapy, a bit about your history, and what encouraged you to take this step now. I like to make sure that clients leave with some useful information at the end of every session whether that is something to reflect on or a strategy to try between appointments.
I encourage you to dress comfortably, and bring a bottle of water and something to take notes on if you would like to.
My rate is $235 for 60-minutes for individual, couples and online sessions. Currently, the recommended rate for psychologists by the Psychologists' Association of Alberta is $235 for a 50-minute session.
I do not offer direct billing. I will provide a receipt after every appointment, which you can submit for reimbursement to your insurance provider. Most insurance providers cover sessions with a Registered Psychologist. However, you will want to verify this with your provider.
Yes. I have a certain amount of space that I dedicate for sliding scale clients. Please reach out to me if you are interested in this to verify that I have the space to offer this service to you. If this is an option, we can collaborate to find a suitable rate for you.
It is hard to say. Everyone is different. The number of sessions can depend on severity of concerns, goals for counselling and availability of resources (benefits, savings, time, etc.)
There is free 90-minute underground parking for clients. The parkade entrance is located on the left side of the building, along 9th avenue NE. The garage door will open automatically when you approach it. You may ONLY park on the first level on specifically marked spots. Each parking spot has a QR code to scan to register your vehicle. You are required to register your vehicle before every appointment otherwise you may be ticketed or towed.
There is also limited free 1-hour parking in the building's outdoor parking lot. The signs indicate that there is 45-minute free parking; however, we have an agreement with the building to allow a full hour of free parking to our clients. Payment is only required if you park for longer than 1-hour. This parking lot is available 24/7.
Alternatively, there is paid street parking located around the office and on the residential side streets. Please pay attention to street parking signs to prevent being ticketed or towed.
The main entrance door will be locked after 9PM Monday-Friday, and all day Saturday, Sunday and stat holidays. In order to enter after hours, use the buzzer on the left hand side of the main door. Call "0618" on the intercom and you will be buzzed in. Please arrive close to your appointment time. If you arrive too early, I may still be in a session and won't be able to buzz you in. You can call 403-408-9355 if you have trouble entering.
